by Liam McCann

Sledging is the art of verbally intimidating a batsman so that he loses his concentration and gets himself out. It is also known as the art of initiating mental disintegration.

Absolutely hilarious romp through the history of the cricketing insult, from WG Grace to ShaneWarne and his contemporaries. Who said cricket was a gentleman's game? Read this and you'll never make that mistake again!

Warne to Cullinan: "I've waited two years for another chance to humiliate you."
Cullinan: "Looks like you spent it eating."

Botham to Randall: "Just remember one thing, you've already been killed once on a cricket field."

Lillee to Gatting: "Move out of the way, Gatt, I can't see the stumps."

McMillan to Warne: "Hey, Shane, you're coming to South Africa? Well, hundreds of people go missing in our country every day. Perhaps I'll take you shark fishing and use you as bait."
