• Drive a wooden stake with a single blow through the heart. The stake should preferably be aspen, maple, hawthorn or whitethorn

• If you strike a second blow the vampire will revive

• Behead the vampire and ensure that the head cannot get back by stuffing the neck with garlic or salt, and wedging the head between the knees.

• Remove the heart and burn it to ashes

• Burn the whole vampire to ashes and scatter them
